History is Served: Ale Through the Ages

Balthasar Denner Glass of Beer and Bread on a TableJoin us for a memorable weekend of beer and history March 18-20, 2016 for Ales through the Ages. This incredible weekend offers a journey through the history of beer with some of the world’s top beer scholars.


beer_streetWe will explore ancient ales and indigenous beers of the past, examine the origins and consequences of industrial brewing, discover the ingredients brewers have used through time, and share a toast to brewers past.  Speakers include beer writers Randy Mosher, Martyn Cornell and Stan Hieronymus, beer scientist Karen Fortmann of White Yeast Labs, brewmaster Mitch Steele of Stone Brewing Company, and a number of other experts and scholars.

The weekend also includes a beer tasting at Chowing’s Tavern Garden, an opportunity to watch 18th-century brewing at the Palace with Master of Foodways Frank Clark, as well as learning about beer cooperage with Master Cooper Jim Pettengell.
